How To: Green Screen

I've recently learned howto edit out a green screen. The first step is to put the original file with the green screen, onto PremierPro.

Next, find an image or another video that you want to replace the green screen with and save it as a JPEG or MP4 file. For Santi's green screen, I will be using a video to replace the green screen. To do this, you go to Youtube, find the video you want to use, then open up another tab and go to a website called Video Grabby. Press record video and it will be downloaded to your computer.

Now you have both clips, drag Santi, the original clip, into the video 2 bar and your new clip into the video 1 bar.

Next, click onto the clip of Santi in video 2 and then go to effects in the section on the bottom left. Search 'Ultra Key' and drag this onto the clip of Santi.

Click on the small black rectangle next to the colour pen and choose a green that matches the colour of your green screen. Press 'OK' and the green screen should be replaced by your new video.

You can change the colour and the size of your replacement green screen clip by going firstly to Motion at the top of Video Effects and then enlarging the clip to the full size of the screen. As for changing the colours, go to Effects in the bottom left of the screen and double click on 'Change to Colour'. Now you can play around with what colours you want to be in the video. For example, here I have changed it so that all the orange that was in the green screen video, has now been changed to purple.

Now you'll want to bring down the sound because we only want to use the video (in this example), so go to 'Audio Mixer' and turn the bar first on the left all the way down.

You can now play with the rest of the volume levels to see what sound you want or don't want in your video.

To make the video look more professional, fade out the sound by clicking on audio 2. Then go to Audio Transitions, Cross Fade, and drag 'Constant Gain' onto audio 2.

Finally, to finish, I've learned it's important to fade to black to show the audience that the video is finished and hasn't just come to a halt or is glitching. To do this, go to video transitions, dissolve and 'Dip to Black'. and drag Dip to Black over onto video 2.

Here is the finished media text:
